First-Ever Electric Silverado Review

First-Ever Electric Silverado Review

An all-new all-electric Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup truck is coming soon to drivers in Kanata and across Canada. This first-ever all-electric truck from Chevrolet will debut on January 5, 2022, at the Consumer Electronics Show. Powered by Ultium, the all-electric Silverado is sure to turn heads.

Overview

Overview

Chevrolet’s first all-electric truck is soon to make its debut, and it will resemble a more classic take on an electric pickup truck than its powertrain-sibling–the astounding GMC Hummer electric vehicle (EV). It is likely that the Silverado EV will be available with up to three electric motors depending on the trim level and a range of up to a fantastic 643 km.

Models and Pricing

Models-and-Pricing

Chevrolet has not released any details on the 2023 Silverado EV models or pricing. It is assumed that it will follow a similar formula as the gasoline-powered Silverado with a low-cost Work Truck model and mid-range LT trims as well as higher-priced luxury models such as the LTZ and High Country. Drivers should expect to pay upwards of $60,000 for the all-electric Silverado.

Platform

Platform

The first-ever all-electric Silverado was designed as an electric vehicle from the ground up–Chevrolet simply did not modify the existing Silverado to become an EV. The Silverado EV will harness the power of the Ultium Platform, which is Chevrolet’s electric solution for the future. It makes electric propulsion, exhilarating torque, and zero emissions driving possible.

Performance

Performance

Since the Silverado EV will share the same platform and assembly line as the Hummer EV, it is also likely that it will share the same powertrain. If that is true, the Silverado could feature one, two, or three electric motors depending on trim level with horsepower output as high as 1,000. Chevrolet has said that all-wheel drive will be standard on the truck.

A new feature on the Silverado EV will be the available four-wheel steer, which is a chassis feature that allows drivers to steer all four vehicle wheels. This will enable increased agility and tighter turning radius at low speeds, as well as improved handling and stability at higher speeds.

Driving Range

With Ultium battery technology, which can be scaled to create a battery pack as large as 200-kWh, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will see a driving range of up to 643 km per charge. Real-world range will vary, especially when the truck is used for hauling or towing, but that range is astounding for a full-size EV pickup truck.

Interior

Interior

The outside will be part of the inside with the Silverado EV’s available fixed-glass roof, which will offer expansive visibility, increased headroom, and an enhanced driving and riding experience for all passengers. The first application of a fixed-glass roof on a GM pickup truck, it is simply right that it appears on Chevrolet’s first electric truck.

Chevrolet has released scant details about its first EV pickup truck, but from what has been said (all-wheel drive, four-wheel steer, Ultium platform, exceptional driving range, and more), the Silverado EV is sure to astound drivers when it makes its debut.
