What Makes Chevy Bolt One of the Most Popular EVs?
Posted on June 29, 2022
There are a lot of reasons that make the Chevy Bolt one of the most popular electric vehicles (EV) on the road today. It is peppy in both design and performance. It offers worry-free driving with a range of over 400 kilometres, and Chevrolet provides great warranty coverage on all components, including EV components.
What’s New for 2022
Chevrolet provided a complete redesign for its Bolt electric hatchback for the 2022 model year. It is more exciting inside and out, offers enhanced features, and actually dropped in price. It adds a newly available dual-level charging cord as well as an increased Level 2 maximum charging capability to decrease charging time.
Models and Pricing
One of the reasons that the Chevy Bolt is a popular EV is because of its accessible price point, which actually dropped in price since the 2021 model year. In Kanata and across Canada, the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt is only offered in one trim level: LT. Starting at $38,198, it offers an all-new cloth interior, power driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, HD rear vision camera, and Infotainment 3 Plus system.
Performance
One area that did not change on the 2022 model of the Chevy Bolt is its tried and true powertrain and chassis. Identical to the other models, the Bolt’s electric motor still delivers 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Available only in front-wheel drive, the Bolt offers instantaneous response to accelerator inputs, making it fun to drive in the city and making passing and merging on the highway easier than ever.
Driving Range
Another reason why the Bolt is so popular is its driving range. Chevy estimates that the 2022 model will have a driving range up to 417 km on a full charge. This makes it competitive with other similarly priced EVs.
For 2022, the Bolt is available with a dual-level charging cord that plugs into both Level 1 (120-volt) and Level 2 (240-volt) outlets, and the Bolt’s maximum Level 2 charging speed was increased to 11kW, allowing the battery to fully charge in seven hours. At DC fast charging stations, the Bolt adds 161 km of range every 30 minutes with a Level 3 connection.
Interior
Another reason for its popularity is the Bolt’s excellent use of space. A new upscale cabin environment creates drivers in the 2022 Bolt with more high-quality materials and soft-touch surfaces. The front seats are more comfortable than ever before, and the back offers plenty of room for two adults. The Bolt offers 481 litres of space behind the second row and 1,614 litres of space when the second row is folded flat.

Along with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration and a roster of standard and available driver-assist technology, it is no wonder that the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt is one of the most popular EVs available on the market today. There is everything to love about it.
